ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to depart for Qatar on Monday, where he will hold high-level meetings with the Qatari leadership to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
According to sources, Pakistan’s Foreign Office is finalising the arrangements for the prime minister’s visit. During the trip, Prime Minister Shehbaz is scheduled to meet Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.
The prime minister will also convey Pakistan’s condolences to the Qatari leadership on the passing of the country’s former emir. The meeting is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties and reviewing matters of mutual interest.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other senior government officials, will accompany the prime minister during the visit.
Meanwhile, the Government of Pakistan has declared July 13 a National Day of Mourning following the death of Qatar’s former emir.
The national flag will fly at half-mast across the country, and Pakistan has expressed solidarity with the government, royal family, and people of Qatar.
