PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested four suspected agents during a crackdown on an alleged touting network operating outside the Passport Office in Hayatabad, Peshawar.

According to the FIA, the operation was conducted on the directives of the Deputy Director of the FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle (ACC) Peshawar.

During initial interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to charging applicants illegal fees in exchange for securing early passport appointment tokens and expediting passport processing.

The agency said mobile phones recovered from the suspects have been taken into custody and will be sent to a forensic laboratory for digital analysis.

The FIA added that a formal inquiry is being initiated into the matter, while further investigation is under way to identify others involved in the alleged racket.
