DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Residents of Kot Allah Dad village in Daraban Kalan tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan are facing an acute shortage of drinking water, forcing women, elderly people and young girls to travel long distances each day to fetch water.
Locals say the prolonged lack of access to clean drinking water has created serious hardships and raised concerns about public health. Many families have reportedly been left with no option but to use contaminated water, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases, including stomach and intestinal infections.
Residents said they have repeatedly lodged complaints with the district administration, the Public Health Engineering Department and elected representatives, but no permanent solution has yet been provided.
Calling access to clean drinking water a basic human right, the community urged the provincial government and relevant authorities to take immediate emergency measures to restore a safe and reliable water supply.
The residents also warned that if the issue is not resolved without delay, they will seek legal and constitutional remedies to secure their right to clean drinking water.
