MINSK: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has issued a stern warning to the United States, suggesting that if Washington struggles to handle Iran, it should avoid confrontation with China, one of the world’s most powerful nations.
According to him, the presidency of Donald Trump made it evident that the country was not as strong and invincible as everybody believed. Moreover, he claimed that the power and influence of the country could not last against the growing economic and military power of China.
According to Lukashenko, Washington was only interested in controlling the natural resources of the rest of the world and used any means possible for that. He referred to America’s “double standards” and the way it treats its opponents. As an example, he cited the country’s attitude toward Venezuela, Cuba, and even the Middle East where the USA tried to spread its influence.
He also called out Western countries when it came to their claims regarding human rights. According to him, despite the fact that America was known for its role in defending democracy and human rights, it could not honour them. The involvement of America with the Israeli nation was questioned by him, as it is unfortunate when civilians suffer injuries.
The statements made by Lukashenko have been made against the backdrop of rising tensions in the Middle East, particularly regarding Iran.
