ISLAMABAD: The government of Islamabad and Rawalpindi has issued orders to shut down all transport hubs after 11 p.m. Thursday to tighten security arrangements in view of the upcoming diplomatic meeting between the US and Iran.
Sources revealed that the order encompasses the shutdown of bus hubs, rent-a-car companies, and tourist transportation facilities in the twin cities. Transporters throughout the country have also been advised not to sell tickets on trips to Islamabad and Rawalpindi until further notification.
The authorities intend to curtail unnecessary movements and establish strict control of the security situation during this critical period. Besides, an immediate ban has also been issued on the arrival of public transport vehicles in both cities through all major routes, including motorways and the Grand Trunk (GT) Road.
There will be issues arising from this policy that will trouble travelers since there will be some inconveniences as a result of the restriction imposed on them. However, the government has confirmed that measures are underway to try to lessen its negative impact on citizens’ everyday life.
In relation to the above point, the government is considering allowing transport services to make deliveries to ensure the availability of essentials and prevent any scarcity.
