ISLAMBAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Saturday introduced a special facility for women who have been unable to obtain identity cards due to the absence of birth certificates.
Under the new procedure, married women aged 18 and above can apply for an identity card using a computerised Nikahnama. The applicant must be accompanied by her husband or one of her parents for biometric verification.
Unmarried women aged 18 and above can apply using the identity card of a parent, sister, or brother. A parent, sister or brother must also accompany the applicant for biometric verification.The facility is aimed at helping women who have faced difficulties in obtaining identity cards because they do not have birth certificates.
In a similar other development, NADRA introduced new features in version 5.8.0 of its Pak ID mobile app.
According to a statement issued by NADRA, citizens can now obtain, securely store and share digital identity cards for their spouses and eligible children alongside their own digital ID.
The new version also allows users to verify a Child Registration Certificate (B-Form) or a Cancellation Certificate by scanning its digital QR code through the app’s “Scan QR Code” feature. Verified information can then be viewed on the app.
NADRA said the updated app 5.8.0 also makes biometric verification easier for influenza and meningitis vaccinations required for Hajj and Umrah. The authority has urged citizens to download the latest version of the Pak ID app to access the new features.
