WhatsApp is rolling out a much-awaited feature that could change how users manage their accounts on the app.

According to reports, the latest Android beta version of WhatsApp includes a new “Log Out” option, allowing users to sign out of their accounts without deleting chats, data, or the app itself.

Until now, WhatsApp users have had no direct logout option. Unlike most messaging apps, logging out was not possible without uninstalling the app or clearing data. This often forced users to delete the app entirely if they wanted a break or needed to switch accounts temporarily.

The new beta feature changes that limitation by introducing a standard sign-out function, bringing WhatsApp closer to modern messaging app standards. The upcoming logout option removes this friction and aligns WhatsApp with competitors that already offer easy sign-in and sign-out functionality.

The feature has only been spotted in the Android beta version, meaning it is still under development and testing. WhatsApp has not officially confirmed when it will roll out globally, and features at this stage often take weeks or months before reaching all users.

However, if widely released, this could become one of the most practical usability upgrades in WhatsApp’s recent update cycle.
