ISLAMABAD: Reports circulating on private television channels and social media claiming that a meeting is being arranged between former prime minister Imran Khan and senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif at Adiala Jail have been dismissed as unfounded and contrary to the facts.

A private TV channel had reported, citing sources, that the jail authorities and PTI Chairman Barrister Gauhar Khan have been formally informed that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi want to meet Barrister Saif. The report also claimed that Bushra Bibi had expressed this desire during a family meeting last month, but the meeting could not take place.

However, a check of the ground facts and reliable sources has proven that this news has nothing to do with reality. Neither is any such meeting scheduled between Imran Khan and Barrister Saif, nor has any application been made to the jail authorities in this regard.

As for Imran Khan’s other meetings, prison sources have confirmed that the PTI founder did meet his wife Bushra Bibi in the jail’s conference room, which lasted for about 50 minutes.

On the other hand, lawyers and family members who came for the meeting were not allowed inside. On this occasion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, along with Shafi Jan and Mian Khan Afridi, were present at the factory naka point, while Imran Khan’s three sisters were also present there with a large number of workers, due to which the situation outside the jail was quite tense.

Meanwhile, the PTI founder was shifted to PIMS Hospital under tight security late at night for eye treatment, where expert doctors administered him the fifth dose of intraocular injection after examination. After the medical procedure was completed, he was shifted back to Adiala Jail, which was later confirmed by Barrister Gauhar.
