PESHAWAR: The Anti-Corruption Court of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced its verdict in the case of embezzlement of millions of rupees from traffic challans of Nowshera Traffic Police.
Judge of the Anti-Corruption Court, Asif Rasheed, after hearing the case and proving the crime, sentenced the former focal person and computer operator of Nowshera Traffic Police, Daulat Ali, to a total of 22 years in prison under various sections.
The court also imposed a total fine of Rs 9.3 million on the convict. According to Senior Public Prosecutor Anti-Corruption Abrar Khattak, accused Daulat Ali was posted as a computer operator in Nowshera Traffic Police and was also the focal person of the traffic police.
According to the prosecutor, the accused allegedly caused a loss of more than Rs 9 million to the national exchequer through a technical fraud in the traffic challan collection. The case was registered at the Anti-Corruption Police Station Nowshera, and after investigation and court proceedings, the crime was proved against the accused.
Announcing the verdict, the court sentenced Daulat Ali to a total of 22 years in prison and a fine of Rs 9.3 million.
