SEOUL: US President Donald Trump praised the military prowess of Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and called him the “best fighter.” He also gave a shout-out to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif by saying, “He’s a great human being.”
While talking in a business leaders’ forum at the APEC Summit in South Korea, President Trump mentioned the Pakistan-India conflict and stated that seven new and advanced aircraft were destroyed during the last hostilities. He was very clear that both countries have nuclear weapons and also said that he was doing everything he could to stop the situation from getting worse.
Trump revealed that he was the one who talked directly to Narendra Modi, Indian Prime Minister, the Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Munir, and warned them that if there was a war, the economic consequences would be terrible.
He added that it was very clear to everyone that the United States would impose 250% tariffs and stop trading with both the countries if there was a conflict.
Trump said, “Both sides decided to end the fighting which kept alive the lives of millions,” He called the resolution of the problem astonishing as it took place within 24 hours.

Moreover, Trump asserted that during his time in office, he had in fact prevented eight wars in eight months including arranging a ceasefire between two countries in Malaysia, and he pointed out America’s role as a leader in global trade and peace.
On October 22, in a recent exchange of views with reporters at the Oval Office, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he had warned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi against waging war with Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion of Diwali, Trump accounted for his recent telephonic talk with Modi, wherein they exchanged views on various issues, including commerce. According to the U.S. President, he informed Modi that it won’t be in the interest of India to wage a war with Pakistan and requested peaceful solutions to problems.
Trump also claimed that, through his diplomacy, he had managed to prevent eight wars, including a potential war between India and Pakistan. He recalled how he intervened when relations between the two nuclear nations were on the rise, preventing it from worsening further.
He explained that seven aircraft had been shot down during the crisis, but the war was averted by his intervention. Trump explained that he had also phoned the two countries and warned them that should they engage in war, America would stop trading with the two nations. Within 24 hours, the two countries then phoned him back, promising not to go to war.
This is not the first such time that President Trump has boasted of having averted war between Pakistan and India. He has often claimed to have defused tensions there successfully, taking credit for himself as a key figure in maintaining peace between the two regional countries.
Trump’s remark serves to bring out his own diplomatic approach, which he takes credit for having been a major factor in averting conflicts across the globe.
