MUZAFFARABAD: With a renewed pledge to continue the struggle for liberation from Indian occupation, Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world observe Accession to Pakistan Day today (Sunday).

The day would remind the world of the realisation of the July 19, 1947 resolution on Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan. As per media reports, Kashmiris across the world observe the day as a Pakistan Accession Day since July 19, 1947, when the genuine representatives of Kashmiris unanimously adopted the historic Accession to Pakistan resolution during a meeting of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference at the residence of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan in the Aabi Guzar area of Srinagar.

The resolution called for the accession of the State of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan. Meanwhile, Hurriyat organizations, in their messages issued on the occasion, have urged the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to protect the Kashmiri people from Indian state repression and play an effective role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.

Likewise, on this day, the people of Pakistan also renew their steadfast support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, calling on the United Nations to peacefully resolve the dispute. In this regard, rallies, public events, and official messages take place across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to mark the occasion.
