NEW JERSEY: The FIFA World Cup 2026 final will be played between Argentina and Spain at 12 o’clock tonight Pakistan Standard Time (PST). Tickets for the final match have become the most expensive in the history of American sports.
According to a media report, the minimum ticket price for the FIFA final match is $6,943, while the average purchase price has reached $11,327, which is a new record for any American sports competition.
The report further adds that the price of a seat in Section 115A at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey has been recorded at $28,479. Earlier, the average ticket for the 2024 Super Bowl was considered the most expensive American sporting event at $9,411.
On the other hand, the FIFA World Cup final will be played at the New Jersey Stadium, where more than 80,000 fans are expected to be present. FIFA has announced that Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić will officiate in the final match.
England secured third place and France finished in fourth place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following England’s 6-4 victory in the third-place playoff match. The 2010 world champion Spain is playing second World Cup final, while defending champions Argentina will be looking to win their fourth world title after 1978, 1986 and 2022.
Meanwhile, Argentina captain Lionel Messi has reacted to a viral photo of himself with Spanish young star Lamine Yamal from 2007, saying that the photo is one of life’s most surprising coincidences.
Messi has also expressed his best wishes for Yamal’s bright future, considering him one of the best players in the world. It should be noted that the joint photo of Messi and Yamal resurfaced in 2024 when Yamal’s father shared it on social media during the European Championship.
