NEW YORK: The individual awards for the FIFA World Cup 2026 were announced after the final, with world champions Spain’s players claiming most of the major honors.
Spain had a standout tournament and three of their players were recognized for exceptional performances.
Golden Ball – Best Player: Rodri (Spain)
Spanish midfielder Rodri was named the tournament’s best player for his outstanding all-round performance.
Golden Glove – Best Goalkeeper: Unai Simon.Spain’s goalkeeper Unai Simon won the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Best Young Player: Pau Cubarsi (Spain) Spain’s young defender Pau Cubarsi impressed throughout the tournament and won the Young Player Award. Golden Boot – Top Scorer: Kylian Mbappe (France)
France’s star forward Kylian Mbappe won the Golden Boot after scoring 10 goals. He became the first player in history to win the Golden Boot twice at the FIFA World Cup.
Spain won their second FIFA World Cup title after defeating Argentina 1-0 in extra time in the final. Several Argentine players were seen in tears following the loss. FIFA also announced a record prize money payout for Spain after their World Cup triumph.
