ISLAMABAD: National Assembly member Sher Afzal Marwat has claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) itself wants governor’s rule to be imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so that the party can portray itself as a “political victim.”
While talking to a private news channel, Marwat, a former PTI leader, alleged that PTI leaders were effectively appealing for governor’s rule to be imposed in the province.
“Look at the statements of PTI leaders; they are pleading for governor’s rule to be imposed,” he claimed.
Marwat also commented on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s decision to postpone a planned march and his call for dialogue.
He said Afridi’s statement that the government should hold talks with them reflected what he described as PTI’s weak political position.
Marwat further claimed that PTI’s planned march on October 4 would also not take place.
CM Sohail Afridi Confirms PTI Long March Has Been Postponed
Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) long march will depart from Peshawar on October 4, following a unanimous decision by the party’s political committee.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Afridi said the political committee held detailed consultations on all aspects of the march before unanimously agreeing to begin the journey from Peshawar on October 4.
He said October 5 marks the birthday of PTI founder Imran Khan and that the party would observe the day as a “Day of Victory.”
Afridi said the party’s struggle was aimed at restoring the Constitution in the country.
Criticising his political opponents, the KP chief minister alleged that the ruling elite wanted to maintain an atmosphere of confrontation between PTI and the establishment so they could pursue their own interests.
