PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has criticised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi over preparations for the proposed Islamabad march, questioning what could be achieved in four or five days when preparations had not been made during the previous 11 months.
Speaking to the media, Marwat claimed that the provincial leadership was making efforts to find a way out of the situation and seeking what he described as “face-saving” following the postponement of the September 27 march.
He said that if a decision was made to call off the march against the wishes of PTI founder Imran Khan, or if the march did not take place at all, Khan would not spare those responsible.
No-confidence motion
Responding to a question about a possible no-confidence motion against Sohail Afridi, Marwat said such a move could be brought if the chief minister insisted on holding on to his position.
Otherwise, he said, Afridi would have to step down following a decision by Imran Khan.
Marwat added that the failure to mobilise the public and make adequate efforts for the march would ultimately work against the provincial leadership.
His remarks come amid reports of internal political differences within the PTI-led KP government and speculation over the future of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
