PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) long march will depart from Peshawar on October 4, following a unanimous decision by the party’s political committee.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Afridi said the political committee held detailed consultations on all aspects of the march before unanimously agreeing to begin the journey from Peshawar on October 4.
He said October 5 marks the birthday of PTI founder Imran Khan and that the party would observe the day as a “Day of Victory.”
Afridi said the party’s struggle was aimed at restoring the Constitution in the country.
Criticising his political opponents, the KP chief minister alleged that the ruling elite wanted to maintain an atmosphere of confrontation between PTI and the establishment so they could pursue their own interests.
