QUETTA: Security forces have killed 33 militants in operations against Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij in different districts of Balochistan since September 21, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the military’s media wing, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Nushki district on September 25, targeting militant hideouts.
During the operation, troops effectively engaged the militants, resulting in the deaths of 11 militants following an intense exchange of fire.
The ISPR said security forces also continued operations under Operation Shaban on September 24, surrounding and destroying additional militant hideouts. Five militants were killed during an exchange of fire, bringing the total number of militants killed in that particular operation to 22.
A significant quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also recovered from the militant hideouts, which, according to the ISPR, were intended to be used for acts of terrorism and sabotage.
The military’s media wing said clearance operations would continue with full force until the threat of terrorism was completely eliminated from the area.
The operations are being conducted as part of Azm-e-Istehkam, a counterterrorism campaign approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
Security forces and law-enforcement agencies are continuing counterterrorism operations across the country, the ISPR said.
The military reiterated its resolve to eliminate what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism and prevent hostile elements from carrying out their stated objectives.
