Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is experiencing a mix of intense heat and scattered rain-thunderstorm alerts today as a westerly weather system moves over the upper parts of the country.

In Peshawar, the weather will stay hot with a high of 38°C and a low of 27°C. The morning will start with haze and partly cloudy skies, turning mostly sunny to clear by afternoon. Air quality remains unhealthy due to high levels of fine particulate matter, and the UV index is expected to be very high, so exposure to direct sunlight should be limited.

Across the province, the weather department has forecast intermittent rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms from June 2 to June 5. Districts including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu, and Kurram may see scattered rain and wind with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms at times.

Temperatures are expected to stay extremely hot over the next five days, ranging between 39°C and 41°C in many areas. The afternoon heat will feel even higher due to direct sunlight. Authorities have warned that strong winds and hail could damage solar panels, electric poles, and billboards, while heavy rain may trigger landslides in upper districts and flash flooding in valleys of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Buner, Abbottabad, and Kohistan.

Officials have advised tourists and travellers to avoid unnecessary travel and to remain extra cautious during the forecast period. Farmers have been asked to take protective measures for crops vulnerable to hail and strong winds. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid going out during peak afternoon heat, and keep children and the elderly indoors as much as possible.
