ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist and political analyst Hamid Mir has claimed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and several senior members of his federal cabinet support the creation of new administrative provinces in Pakistan.
According to Hamid Mir, detailed discussions on the possibility of creating new provinces have taken place during high-level political meetings in recent days.
The senior journalist said the meetings focused on whether Pakistan should move toward the creation of additional provinces as part of broader administrative reforms.
Hamid Mir claimed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has adopted a clear position in favour of establishing new provinces and reiterated his support for the idea during the meetings.
He further claimed that several senior federal ministers share the prime minister’s view and believe that the creation of new provinces is necessary to improve administration and address public issues more effectively.
The remarks have renewed discussion over the long-standing debate surrounding administrative restructuring and the possible creation of additional provinces in the country.
