Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) made a new history in the world of medicine as the institute, for the first time in Pakistan’s history, carried out cardiac surgery with modern endoscopic technology.

This achievement makes PIC the leading institution in introducing modern and less painful treatments for heart diseases across the country. Regarding this historic operation, Cardiac surgeon Dr. Mujeeb Dawar said that in this modern treatment method, unlike traditional surgery, complex surgery was performed without completely opening the chest, but only with the help of small incisions and cameras, and a 37-year-old patient was successfully treated and is now recovering rapidly.

According to Dr. Mujeeb Dawar, this modern technology has several benefits, as the patient feels very little pain after the operation with low blood loss. The patient can return to his normal life very soon after being discharged from the hospital.

He added that this success is the result of excellent teamwork, and they aim to provide world-class treatment to the people of the province at their doorstep. Peshawar Institute of Cardiology Dean Prof. Dr. Shahkar Ahmed Shah expressed pride over this milestone and said that this surgery is a great success for the institution. He informed the public that preparations to start the “Heart Transplant Program” at PIC are also in the final stages.

Prof. Shahkar Ahmed Shah reiterated his resolve that PIC will continue to play its key role in providing the latest medical facilities to patients in the province and across the country.
