PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed a citizen named Quaid-e-Azam to appear before the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Board after his computerized national identity card (CNIC) was blocked.
A two-member bench of Justice Waqar Ahmad and Justice Inamullah Khan has heard the petition seeking the restoration of CNIC after its blocking.
In this regard, the counsel for the petitioner informed the court that his client was a businessman who faced immense problems due to the blocking of his CNIC while conducting his regular businesses and financial dealings.
Moreover, the blocking of identity card of the petitioner had also deprived him of accessing banking facilities and other government services and processes.
The petitioner sought directions from the court to order NADRA to restore his CNIC.
In this regard, an official of NADRA, Director Legal appeared before the court and informed the court that the CNIC was blocked owing to some suspicious records about the case, according to the procedure of NADRA.
The court, after hearing the arguments from both parties, directed the petitioner to present himself to the NADRA Board along with all the records and documents, so that the issue could be considered on legal and administrative grounds.
In addition to that the court ordered the NADRA Board to hear the arguments presented by the petitioner’s side to consider all the evidence and decide according to law.
With these directions, the court disposed of the petition while clarifying that the petitioner would retain the right to pursue further legal remedies if necessary after the administrative process is completed.
