ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a free iris scan service at all its registration centres nationwide to enhance the security of citizens’ identity information and strengthen Pakistan’s biometric verification system.
In a public awareness message, NADRA said the service is available free of charge to all citizens and urged people to visit their nearest NADRA office to register their iris scans.
The authority said iris scanning, which verifies an individual’s identity through a scan of the eye’s iris, provides an additional layer of biometric authentication and helps safeguard personal identity data against misuse.
NADRA has also encouraged parents to bring children aged three years and above to the nearest registration centre to have their iris scans recorded.
According to the authority, the initiative aims to make biometric identification more secure, reliable and efficient while improving the identity verification process for citizens.
The authority urged the public to take advantage of the free facility at the earliest, saying it would help ensure stronger protection of identity information and facilitate safer and more effective biometric verification in the future.
