ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has expressed ignorance about the government’s recently announced petrol relief package.
Chairman of the association, Humayun Khan, said they have no information about the Rs 100 per litre subsidy on petrol. He warned that the government’s move would lead to confrontations between customers and pump owners.
“We don’t know about the Rs 100 subsidy package on petrol. With this Rs 100 subsidy by the government, now the customer and the petrol pump owner will fight with each other,” Humayun Khan said.
Echoing similar concerns, General Secretary of the Pump Owners Association, Noman Butt, said the government has announced the subsidy but has not explained the mechanism for reimbursement.
“The government has announced the subsidy but has not told how the petrol pump owners will get this money back,” Noman Butt said.
It is pertinent to mention that the federal government has announced a Rs 100 per litre subsidy on fuel for motorcycles and vehicles up to 800cc, with the scheme already launched in Islamabad as a pilot project.
