ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) central leader Senator Kamran Murtaza has said no-confidence move can only be considered if the Pakistan Peoples Party withdraws its political support to the PML-N government.
He said his party has declined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s invitation to join its protest on September 27, adding that JUI-F will not hold any joint protest with any other party.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with We News, Murtaza said PTI had invited JUI-F for the September 27 Islamabad protest, but the party politely refused. He said Maulana Fazlur Rehman had made it clear that the opposition alliance is limited to parliament only.”Our party can hold its own protest alone, but will not protest together with any other party,” he said.
Commenting on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s claim of bringing 4 million people from KP to Islamabad, Murtaza said September 27 will reveal whether the claim is true. “As a political worker, I don’t think it is possible for a march of 4 million people to start from one province and reach the federal capital.
“He said JUI-F is closely monitoring both the Jamaat-e-Islami march against inflation and petroleum prices and PTI’s march for Imran Khan, and will decide its future course of action after reviewing their outcome. He confirmed Maulana Fazlur Rehman has returned from Punjab and Sindh tours and will visit Karachi on September 17 and then Peshawar.
On the possibility of a no-confidence motion, Kamran Murtaza said the matter is not under consideration at the moment. “It is premature to talk about it,” he said.
However, he added that a no-confidence move can only be considered if the Pakistan Peoples Party withdraws its political support to the PML-N government.
“Unless PPP changes its current position and takes back the support given to Muslim League (N), it will not be possible. Personally, I think instead of a no-confidence motion, holding new, transparent and free elections would be better so that the people can elect their representatives and Pakistan can move in the right direction,” he said.
On the creation of new provinces, he said the decision should be made by assemblies under the procedure laid down in the Constitution, and adopting any extra-constitutional method would create a new problem. He said raising such a major issue at a time when the status of the current assemblies is already questionable would be premature.
On the issue of shifting Imran Khan to Shifa Hospital, Murtaza said after the Constitutional Court’s order to transfer the case, it has now become a court versus court dispute rather than just government versus PTI.
