The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially suspended Mohammad Nawaz from all cricketing activities after failing his doping test.

A PCB spokesperson said that the board adheres to a “zero tolerance” policy and the investigation will be completed soon as per ICC regulations.

According to sources, Mohammad Nawaz has decided to undergo a “B-Sample” analysis to clear himself. This is a legal right given to players to prove their innocence. If the B-Sample result comes negative, his suspension may end, but he is currently ineligible to play for any team.
The PCB has announced the formation of a three-member independent medical and legal panel to investigate the matter. This committee will review the explanations provided by the player and the results of the doping test and formulate its final recommendations.

Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise ‘Multan Sultans’ has issued a brief statement saying that they are cooperating with the PCB’s decisions. The team management has approached the board for a replacement player in place of Mohammad Nawaz so that the team’s performance in the remaining matches of the tournament is not affected.

A legal team has also been appointed by Mohammad Nawaz to follow up on the matter, the aim of which is to find out whether the positive test was a side-effect of a medicine or a deliberate act.

Currently, Mohammad Nawaz is on “Provisional Suspension”, and the situation will become clearer when the “B sample” result comes in the next few days. His cricket career now completely depends on the outcome of this investigation report.
