Noor Zaman made a great start to the World Squash Championship 2026, defeating Egypt’s Adam Hawal 3-2 after a tough contest.
In the match played in Egypt, Noor Zaman won the first game 11-9, but Adam Hawal won the second game 11-5 to level the match.
The third and fourth games also saw a tough competition between the two players, where Noor Zaman took the lead but the Egyptian player leveled the match again.
Noor Zaman played his best game in the deciding game to win 11-8 and won 11-9, 5-11, 11-7, 9-11 and 11-8 on aggregate. The thrilling encounter lasted for 55 minutes.
With this victory, Noor Zaman has reached the second round where he will face Egypt’s Mohamed Zakaria.
The 22-year-old Noor Zaman recently reached a career-best 28th position in the world rankings after a strong performance at the Optisia Squash Championship.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s Muhammad Asim Khan suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of fifth seed Joel McCann, after which he was eliminated from the tournament.
Another Pakistani player, Ashraf Irfan, will take on Switzerland’s Nicolas Muller in the first round on Saturday.
