‎ISLAMABAD – Pakistan canceled the purchase of 45 liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes from Qatar and Italy that were scheduled until 2027, officials confirmed.

‎According to sources in the Petroleum Division, 24 LNG cargoes from Qatar, set for import in 2026, have been canceled.

‎From Italy, only one LNG cargo will arrive in January 2026 instead of the planned 12, while 10 out of 12 cargoes scheduled for 2027 have also been canceled.

‎Officials clarified that Pakistan has long-term LNG supply contracts with both Qatari and Italian companies.

‎The cancellations are part of adjustments within these long-term agreements, and the process with the international companies has already been completed.

‎Italy’s company has a 15-year supply contract with Pakistan LNG Limited, while Qatar’s LNG supply contract is linked with the Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

‎Under these agreements, Pakistan normally imports 10 LNG cargoes each month.

‎This step reflects the government’s effort to manage imports carefully while ensuring energy needs are met under existing long-term contracts.
