PESHAWAR: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Ministry of Railways are set to sign a framework agreement to move forward with major railway projects in the province.

Under the agreement, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will establish modern high-speed train facilities in the province. The provincial government aims to bring a “travel revolution” to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through the modern high-speed railway system.

Officials say it will play a key role in reducing traffic congestion and travel burden on major cities. Improved railway connectivity is also expected to boost trade, tourism, employment opportunities, and travel facilities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As part of the agreement, various railway projects in the province will be advanced in phases. The Peshawar Valley Railway Project will also be taken forward under the framework agreement.

In its first phase, the project will cover the Peshawar, Nowshera, and Jahangira railway corridor. According to the Department of Transport, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the framework agreement will be signed on August 25 at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad.

The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federal Minister for Railways will sign the agreement. Officials say the initiative marks a significant step toward modernizing the province’s transport infrastructure and providing citizens with faster, safer, and more affordable travel options.
