ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a notification increasing electricity prices by Rs0.52 per unit under the quarterly adjustment mechanism.
According to the notification issued by NEPRA, the increase will place an additional financial burden of approximately Rs12.67 billion on electricity consumers across the country.
Consumers will pay the higher rates in their electricity bills for September, October and November.
NEPRA clarified that the increase will not apply to lifeline consumers. However, the Rs0.52 per unit increase will also be applicable to K-Electric consumers.
Previous Electricity Price Increase
The latest increase comes after electricity prices were raised by Rs0.75 per unit across the country in August.
That earlier increase was made under the monthly adjustment for June 2026 and was also applicable to K-Electric consumers. The additional charges were reflected in electricity bills issued in August.

The latest quarterly adjustment will now be recovered from eligible consumers through their bills during the three-month period.
Solar Consumers Get Major Relief as NEPRA Announces New Rules
Earlier, Solar energy users in Pakistan have received a major relief after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) amended the Solar Regulations 2026, simplifying the approval process for small-scale solar installations.
According to a notification issued by NEPRA, consumers installing solar systems with a capacity of up to 25 kilowatts will no longer be required to seek direct approval from the regulator.
Instead, the authority has delegated the duty of providing approvals directly to the distribution companies of electricity.
This comes in the wake of increased use of solar energy in Pakistan where electricity rates are on the rise and there is also a shortage of electricity, which is pushing households and industries to look for alternative sources of electricity.
Solar energy has become a widely used source of energy in Pakistan in recent years due to high costs of grid electricity.
Recent estimates suggest that around 15 to 25 percent of Pakistani households are now using solar energy in some form, ranging from basic lighting solutions to complete household power systems and hybrid setups connected with the national grid.
