Another vessel carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has arrived at Port Qasim in Karachi, bringing 4,000 metric tonnes of the fuel from Bahrain.
According to a spokesperson for the Port Qasim Authority, the vessel, named Yellowstone, arrived with the LPG consignment and berthed on October 24.
The handling of the LPG shipment at Port Qasim has been completed, while experts say the additional imports will help meet domestic demand for the fuel.
The development comes amid a significant gap between the official LPG price and rates being charged in local markets across Pakistan.
The official LPG price for October has been set at Rs279.34 per kilogram. However, the fuel is reportedly being sold for between Rs600 and Rs650 per kilogram in different cities.
According to sources, LPG prices may decline if supplies improve following the arrival of additional imported shipments.
