Pakistani workers seeking employment in South Korea can apply through the Employment Permit System (EPS), a government-to-government programme that provides eligible candidates with opportunities to work in various sectors.

In Pakistan, the programme is administered through the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) in collaboration with South Korea’s Human Resources Development Service of Korea (HRD Korea).

According to the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, selected candidates may obtain employment in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, agriculture and certain services under the E-9 work visa scheme.

Applicants generally must be between 18 and 39 years of age, although specific age limits and other conditions may vary according to each recruitment announcement.

Candidates must hold a valid passport and meet the required medical and legal eligibility conditions. Criminal records, previous deportation, illegal residence in South Korea or restrictions on overseas travel may affect eligibility.

Applicants should ensure that their personal details, including their name and date of birth, are consistent across their national identity card, passport and other relevant documents.

The selection process includes the Employment Permit System Test of Proficiency in Korean (EPS-TOPIK), which assesses candidates’ ability to read and understand Korean in everyday life and workplace situations.

Candidates who meet the required standards may qualify for a subsequent skills assessment. Depending on the recruitment notice, this may evaluate practical abilities, physical fitness, hand-eye coordination, colour recognition and relevant skills or experience.

Applicants can prepare using official Korean-language textbooks, practice materials and skills-test guidance.

Successful candidates may be entered into the job-seeker roster, from which South Korean employers select workers and issue employment contracts. Passing the examination does not guarantee a job.

Selected applicants must complete medical examinations, visa processing, pre-departure training and other required formalities.

Applicants should follow official OEC announcements and verify all requirements before applying. They should avoid agents promising guaranteed jobs, selection without examinations or placement on recruitment lists in exchange for money.
