Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved 50 thousand metric tons of wheat for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The ECC meeting was chaired by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb approved several major decisions related to food security, space research, security and welfare of workers, while technical grants worth billions of rupees were also approved for various ministries and agencies.

The meeting approved the supply of an additional 50,000 metric tons of wheat through PASCO, keeping in view the requirements of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. According to the decision, wheat will be supplied to the provincial government at the rate of Rs 4,150 per man, which will help further stabilize wheat availability and food security in the province.

The Economic Coordination Committee also approved a technical supplementary grant of over Rs 2.67 billion for various publicity and public awareness campaigns of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. According to officials, the funds will be used to effectively highlight government policies and public welfare programs.

The meeting also approved Rs 86 crore for various space projects and astronomical observatories of the national space agency Sparco. In addition, the approval of funding for Pakistan’s manned space mission is being described as an important milestone in the country’s space programs.

The Economic Coordination Committee in the field of security has approved a grant of Rs 646 million for the operational expenditure of Frontier Corps Balochistan South Turbat, which aims to further improve security capabilities and operational capabilities in the area.

The meeting also approved a compensation package of Rs 5 billion for the workers of the Karachi Postal Labor Board. The move is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of workers and their families.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers Qaisar Ahmed Sheikh, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Rana Tanveer Hussain, while federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal and Owais Leghari participated through video link.

These decisions are being described as important developments in terms of the country’s economy, food security, space research, security and workers’ welfare.
