LONDON: New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry has risen to the top of the ICC Test bowling rankings following a match-winning performance that helped secure a series-levelling victory over England.

In the second Test match at The Oval, Henry produced an outstanding performance as he took 11 wickets throughout the game. The player managed to take five wickets in his first innings and six more wickets in his second innings and was instrumental in helping his team win by a margin of 253 runs.

As a result of his incredible performance, Henry has climbed up by six spots in the latest ranking update as he currently has 870 points and is tied on the number one spot along with India’s Jasprit Bumrah. It is a great accomplishment for the bowler, considering Henry is the third New Zealand bowler ever to top the ICC Test Bowling Rankings.

The impressive performance of the bowler helped the side seal a draw in the Test series.

The latest ICC update also brought changes in the batting rankings, where England’s Joe Root reclaimed the No.1 position. Root moved back to the top after scoring 46 and 77 in the match, surpassing Harry Brook and Australia’s Travis Head in the standings.

The rankings shake-up reflects a highly competitive phase in Test cricket, with key players across teams making significant movements following strong individual performances.
