PESHAWAR: Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) has officially launched free kidney transplant services, marking a significant milestone in the provision of advanced healthcare in the province.
According to hospital administration, the facility successfully performed its first kidney transplant operation, in which a brother donated a kidney to his sibling.
Both the donor and recipient recovered well following the procedure and were discharged from the hospital in satisfactory condition.
Hospital officials stated that the state-of-the-art kidney transplant service will now be provided free of charge, offering much-needed treatment to patients suffering from kidney diseases, particularly those who cannot afford the high costs associated with transplant procedures.
The initiative is expected to improve access to life-saving treatment and enhance healthcare services for underprivileged patients across the region.
