PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi visited Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar to inquire after those injured in a recent incident in Kurram district.

The chief minister met the injured individually, reviewed their medical condition and received a detailed briefing on the treatment and healthcare facilities being provided to them.

During the visit, he directed hospital authorities to ensure the provision of the best possible medical care, stressing that any negligence or shortcomings in the treatment of patients would not be tolerated.

Expressing solidarity with the affected families, Sohail Afridi said the provincial government stood by them in this difficult time and would provide all possible support.

The affected families should not feel alone. The provincial government shares their grief and will extend every possible assistance to them, he said.

The chief minister also instructed relevant district authorities to submit a detailed report on the deceased and injured at the earliest so that financial assistance could be provided to the affected families without delay.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to utilising all available resources to identify those responsible for the incident.

Later, CM Sohail Afridi paid a surprise visit to the emergency ward of Lady Reading Hospital, where he met patients and their attendants and reviewed the healthcare services and treatment arrangements in place.

He directed the hospital administration to ensure quality medical facilities for all patients, adding that negligence in the provision of public healthcare services would not be tolerated.

The chief minister said the provision of quality healthcare remained one of the provincial government’s top priorities and noted that substantial resources were being invested in the health sector to ensure that the benefits reached the public.
