PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) has been selected for the ASOCIO Digital Government Award 2026, recognising the province’s progress in digital governance and technology-based public services.
In this connection an awarding giving ceremony will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, during the ASOCIO summit scheduled to be held from October 5 to 7, 2026. Regarding this development, KP Information Minister Shafiullah Jan said the recognition was a proud moment for the province and showed that KP was making its mark in technology and digital development.
ASOCIO (Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization) is a leading regional ICT federation representing 24+ member economies across Asia–Oceania, including Australia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Bhutan, Brunei, Laos, Macau, Mongolia and Myanmar, among others.
The ASOCIO Digital & AI Awards are regarded by ASOCIO as one of the region’s most respected and prestigious ICT recognition programmes, honouring excellence, leadership and transformative impact in digital innovation. The KPITB’s work in promoting digital governance and using technology to make government services faster, easier and more accessible to the public.
He said the focus on a “Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” was aimed at providing citizens with convenient digital services while reducing difficulties in accessing government facilities. The minister described the selection of KPITB by ASOCIO as recognition of the board’s efforts to expand digital services and introduce innovative technology-based solutions in the province.
He said the provincial government would continue its digital reform agenda to further improve service delivery and strengthen KP’s position in the technology sector. The recognition also comes as KP seeks to expand the use of digital platforms across government departments, with technology increasingly being used to simplify public services and improve administrative efficiency.
Shafiullah Jan said the province would continue investing in digital development and working to build KP into a stronger technology hub. The ASOCIO award is expected to give further international visibility to KP’s digital initiatives and highlight the province’s growing role in technology and digital governance.
