PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education and Local Government Meena Khan Afridi was stopped from travelling abroad at Bacha Khan International Airport by FIA immigration officials despite court orders, he said.

According to Meena Khan Afridi, he was scheduled to travel to Germany after being invited by the University of Tubingen for an official visit. However, FIA immigration authorities offloaded him at the airport and prevented him from boarding the flight.

The provincial minister said the Peshawar High Court had already issued orders in his favour, but despite the directives, immigration officials stopped him from travelling abroad.

It is unfortunate that even High Court orders are not being implemented, he said, adding that such actions were also depriving the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of international academic and educational opportunities.

The FIA authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter.
