PESHAWAR: Government employees have submitted their demands to the provincial government, stating that if their requests are not accepted, a strike and protests will be held across the province on May 12 and 20. Employee organisations have formally outlined their demands, which address key issues related to salaries, pensions, allowances, and privatisation.

Among their requests, employees are calling for the restoration of the old pension system, the inclusion of the 2011 and 2015 allowances in pensions, and the provision of a 30% Dearness Relief Allowance (DRA) to provincial employees, similar to the federal model. They seek the elimination of discrepancies in salaries and an increase in house rent, medical allowances, and conveyance allowances to at least Rs 20,000, reflecting the current inflation rates.

Additionally, the employees are opposing the privatisation of schools, colleges, and hospitals, and are advocating for the permanent employment of contract workers and teachers. They also wish to restore the old system of the GP Fund in place of the P Fund. Regularisation and upgradation notifications for teachers are essential for reinstating the previous practice of recruiting children of class four employees.

Employee leaders have warned that if their demands are not met, there will be protests on the streets on May 12 and 20, with government offices being locked.
