PESHAWAR: A large number of Lady Health Workers (LHWs) staged a fresh protest in the provincial capital on Monday, blocking the busy Assembly Chowk to all vehicular traffic. The demonstrators, who have gathered in significant numbers, are chanting slogans against the government while demanding immediate action on their long-standing grievances.
Protesters at the scene have remained steadfast, declaring that they will not vacate the area until their specific demands are formally met. The blockade has caused significant disruption to traffic flow in the heart of the city. To maintain order and monitor the situation, a contingent of women police personnel and senior officers has been deployed to Assembly Chowk. Despite the heavy police presence, the LHWs continue their sit-in, insisting that previous promises made by the authorities have yet to be fulfilled.
