Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has issued instructions to prepare a comprehensive scheme for providing interest-free loans to journalists to establish media setups.

The Chief Minister says that providing interest-free loans will make it easier for young journalists to establish their media platforms and get self-employment opportunities.

This instruction was given in a meeting on the Annual Development Program for the year 2026-27 chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, in which new projects of the Information, Science and Technology, Law, Mines and Minerals and Labor Departments were considered.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also directed to establish day care centres in all judicial complexes of the province so that facilities can be provided to the children of lawyers, judicial officers and staff.

He further said that practical steps will be taken to eliminate child labour in the province and include children in the education system, while instructions were also given to promote tree plantation in mining areas.

The meeting also considered proposals for establishing a Drone Centre of Excellence in the IT sector, a Cyber Security Operation Centre, and a Digital City in the merged districts.
