KOHAT: Kohat police during a checkpost operation recovered a large cache of weapons and arrested an Afghan national said officials.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Shahbaz Elahi, the operation was carried out by Cantonment Police as part of an ongoing crackdown on criminal elements.
The recovery was made after Station House Officer (SHO) Irfan Khan, along with a police contingent, stopped and searched a passenger coach at the Kaghazai checkpoint.
During the search, officers inspected bags and sacks on board and recovered a significant quantity of weapons.
The seized cache included one rocket launcher, 22 hand grenades, one booster and 37 mortar rounds.
Police arrested the suspect, identified as Momin Khan, an Afghan national, at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest the weapons were being transported from Hangu to Dara Adam Khel.
A case has been registered against the suspect, and further investigation is underway, police said.
