Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced free laptop scheme for students under phase two of the chief Minister’s laptop scheme.
According to the details, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, while giving the good news to the university students, said that the first batch of laptops under Phase 2 of the Chief Minister’s Laptop Scheme has reached Punjab.
The provincial minister confirmed that initially 30,000 laptops have reached the province for the second phase of the scheme.
The education minister said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given formal approval to distribute more than 70,000 laptops to talented students across the province during the current year, with the aim of equipping the youth with modern technology.
This important announcement came after the Punjab government allocated a record Rs 750 billion for the education sector in the budget for the fiscal year 2026-27.
This huge investment in the education budget will be used to improve the infrastructure of schools, colleges and universities, promote digital learning, and provide financial assistance to deserving students.
Rs600.78 billion has been allocated for ongoing expenditure for schools and Rs13.18 billion for development projects.
Out of this amount, Rs570.52 billion will be given to District Education Authorities and government schools in the form of grants and subsidies.
Rs83.48 billion has been allocated for ongoing expenditure for the higher education sector, while Rs11.15 billion has been allocated for development projects.
In addition, Rs68.72 billion has been allocated for salaries and other benefits (employment-related expenses) of employees.
