ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has arrived in Islamabad, where he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Iranian foreign minister was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, along with other senior officials upon arrival.

During the visit, the Iranian foreign minister will hold meetings with Pakistan’s senior leadership to discuss the latest regional developments as well as ongoing efforts for regional peace and stability.

Earlier, Araghchi stated that he has begun his regional visit covering Islamabad, Muscat and Moscow. He said the purpose of the tour is to maintain close coordination with partner countries on bilateral matters and to consult on developments in the region.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has officially announced urgent and important visits to Pakistan, Oman and Russia.

In a message on his social media account, Abbas Araghci said that he is starting his diplomatic mission to Islamabad, Muscat and Moscow.

He described the visit as “very timely and necessary” and said that its main objective is to establish close coordination with key regional partners on bilateral issues and to hold in-depth consultations on recent developments in the region.
