ISLAMABAD: In a significant diplomatic development in Pakistan’s peace efforts, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad and held an important meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on bilateral relations, the regional security situation and the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Iranian ambassador and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Iran briefed Pakistan on its recent observations and position, while Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to continuing diplomatic efforts for the establishment of peace in the region.

The leadership of both countries also agreed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable solutions to the current situation.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has arrived in Islamabad, where he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Iranian foreign minister was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, along with other senior officials upon arrival.

During the visit, the Iranian foreign minister will hold meetings with Pakistan’s senior leadership to discuss the latest regional developments as well as ongoing efforts for regional peace and stability.

Earlier, Araghchi stated that he has begun his regional visit covering Islamabad, Muscat and Moscow. He said the purpose of the tour is to maintain close coordination with partner countries on bilateral matters and to consult on developments in the region.
