Drones and missiles were launched at the Erbil International Airport in the city of Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan, after which panic spread throughout the city.

According to news agencies, loud explosions were heard around the airport and the air defence system was immediately activated. According to the Al Jazeera report, three Iranian drones were shot down in the airspace of Erbil. Sources say that security has been put on high alert due to the presence of US forces at Erbil Airport. The Iraqi defense system took immediate action to thwart the attacks, as a result of which several drones were destroyed.

According to authorities, efforts are underway to control the situation, while additional security has been deployed at the airport and its surroundings. Full details of the loss of life or property have not yet been revealed. On the other hand, 35 people have been reported killed in US and Israeli attacks in Iran’s Fars province. A Chinese citizen has also been confirmed dead in the attacks on Tehran, which was confirmed by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Tensions in the Middle East have further increased due to the ongoing attacks and counter-attacks in the region, and security in several countries is on high alert. According to experts, recent events are worrying for the overall security of the region and the situation could change rapidly.
