PESHAWAR: Internal divisions within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have intensified in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the party’s provincial joint secretary, Engineer Khaista Muhammad, stepped down from his position.

According to his letter of resignation, Khaista Muhammad expressed concerns over certain decisions being taken without consultations in PTI, saying that “there is a dictatorial atmosphere in the party now.” This comes amid reports that cabinet consultations are being ignored within PTI.

“The cabinet should first be consulted in all organisational appointments and decisions but that is not happening in Malakand region,” he said, adding that if an organisation does not consult its cabinet then it means nothing because the party’s very principle stresses collective authority.

“Collective authority of cabinet was envisaged when PTI was formed,” he continued, referring to the vision of the party’s founder, Imran Khan, and stressing that such an approach should have been adopted to ensure proper governance within PTI.

In addition to this, the resignation letter states that there lacks a clear strategy from the part of PTI’s leaders concerning Imran Khan’s release.

Internal rifts within PTI intensified

Meanwhile, Internal divisions within the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) have deepened, following reports of a heated exchange between Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi.

Sources indicate that during a discussion last night within the core committee regarding organizational matters, tensions escalated significantly, leading to bitter words and reportedly abusive language exchanged between the two leaders.

Following this incident, Salman Akram Raja has withdrawn from the core committee group. This dispute has surfaced amid serious disagreements over the party’s organizational issues.

As of now, the top leadership of the PTI has not issued any official statement or denial regarding this unfortunate incident.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Peshawar chapter currently faces internal conflicts because Deputy General Secretary Waseem Zaman chose to resign from his position to District President Irfan Saleem.

Zaman expressed his dissatisfaction with district leadership through his resignation letter because they failed to manage the situation which involved alleged abduction events that took place on February 10. The district president failed to provide Zaman and his family with necessary support and guidance during the abduction incident, according to his statement.

Zaman announced his decision to resign because the district president failed to check on him after he returned home. The district committee will receive no communication from him because he intends to protest through a boycott of all official calls and requests.
