MINGORA: The district administration of Swat has decided to take action against Afghan migrants residing in Pakistan illegally, giving nearly 1,800 individuals a one-week deadline to voluntarily return to Afghanistan.
An important meeting was convened by Deputy Commissioner Salim Jan Marwat, where officials from the district administration, police, and other concerned departments participated to deliberate on measures for implementing government policies.
In the meeting, it was decided that all Afghan migrants with ACC and PoR cards who are required to go back to Afghanistan according to government policy will be asked to leave the country. They were also informed that strict action would be taken against those failing to do so within the given period and their cases will be registered legally.
“This policy of the government will be fully enforced, and nobody will be allowed to stay here illegally,” said a district official.
This decision is being taken in light of efforts to regularize the stay of Afghan migrants in Pakistan.
