PESHAWAR: A prolonged and unannounced power outage disrupted life in Peshawar and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing major inconvenience for residents.
In the aftermath of a severe storm, the electricity supply was unexpectedly switched off at 6:00 pm and remained partially off for a number of hours.
The badly hit cities include not only Peshawar but also Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, and some other nearby districts. Residents faced difficulties as the situation adversely impacted children, senior citizens, and ill people. Some business activities also came to a halt due to the lack of electricity supply.
A lot of citizens have complained about the delayed restoration of electricity as the power supply went off when the storm started and remained cut off despite the end of stormy weather conditions for many hours afterwards.
As stated by the officials from the PESCO, storms led to a fault in the transmission of electricity. Technical teams are currently working on restoring electricity to the area.
