Senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser has said that preparations for the long march planned for September are already underway.
Speaking to the media, he said a meeting will be convened to bring together all opposition political parties.
”We are trying to bring farmers, laborers and other opposition parties on board,” he added.
Asad Qaiser alleged that there is currently “neither law nor the Constitution in the country.”
”Legal rights and basic human rights have effectively ended in the country. Anyone can be picked up and action can be taken against them,” he said.
He further claimed that “the courts in the country have been completely dismantled and their wings have been clipped.”
The PTI leader called on all political parties to unite for a “Charter of Democracy” and for the restoration of law and the Constitution in the country.
”The government itself knows that it is in power illegitimately. It does not have a mandate. The government should resign,” Qaiser said.
He stressed the need for “an Election Commission that is acceptable to all” and for “free and fair elections so that the country can be saved from this crisis.”
”We need a new parliament with true representation of the people. People who are the real representatives of the public should be seated in parliament,” he added.
Regarding Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F, Asad Qaiser said there is “engagement with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, but there has been no formal discussion on an alliance yet.”
”We want to talk with all opposition political parties about democracy, rule of law, an independent judiciary, and the restoration of peace and order in the country,” he concluded.
