PESHAWAR: Four suspects allegedly involved in a gang-rape case were killed after a police party came under heavy gunfire in the jurisdiction of Rahman Baba police station, according to Capital City Police Peshawar.
Police said the four suspects were being taken to the scene of the incident for identification when unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire on the police party.
The suspects were hit by the gunfire and died on the spot, while all police personnel remained safe.The deceased suspects were identified as Amir, son of Iftikhar, Jalal alias Raja, son of Meraj, Chacha, son of Qadus; and Amdas.
According to the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), the suspects were allegedly involved in a gang-rape incident reported on Sunday night in Garhi Mosa Khan.
The suspects allegedly entered a house by scaling its wall and assaulted women at gunpoint. A case was registered over the incident under sections 395, 377-B, 449, 170 and 375-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with Section 50 of the Child Protection Act, under FIR No. 754 dated September 6, 2026.
Police said weapons allegedly used in the incident had also been recovered from the suspects following their arrest.
Further investigation into the incident is under way, police said.The CCPO said police would continue indiscriminate action against criminal elements and other threats to public safety.
